Is the Samsonite Premium Laptop Case for you? I’ll cover any aspects of this laptop case in detail. I hope my research serves you if you’re asking yourself whether this premium laptop case is the right choice for you. First, I’ll dive into a brief history of Samsonite, and why they are so big in the luggage market. Second, I’ll show what I found out about their customer support and how supportive they can actually be. Lastly, I talk about the product features and what stands out wit this laptop case. I really go all in on the company heavy information because I’ve been burned by companies before. I hope to prevent this from happening to you in the future.
Brief Samsonite History
The whole company name of Samsonite is Samsonite International S.A. Samsonite was founded in Denver, Colorado March 10, 1910 by a man named Jesse Shwayder. He named his first product after the biblical hero Samson. I knew there had to be a connection, I remember learning about Samson who bore herculean strength growing up in a religious family. Samson was the right figure to name the luggue company after. They own a household name. The company has boomed in sales since its inception.
I remember refusing to believe a luggage company could be a massively successful business. It never dawned on me the high price of luggage and the millions of Americans who buy travel specific bags. Did you know that in 2016 Samsonite bought a major luggage brand named Tumi for $1.8 billion in 2016? That’s a capital B for billions! We can agree that if Samsonite was clever, they built in enough profit margin to take care of their customers. Next, we should look into their customer service.
Samsonite Customer Support
Samsonite’s customer support and warranty section on their website is a pain to navigate. It reminds me of any big, cold, corporation that tries to hide their contact information. If I were Samsonite, I would probably be the same way. Good thing I don’t care and dug up the intel on their support for our purchases. The reason I think its important to look at the customer support for a luggage brand is due to the fact you will have this specialized bag for years. Most of us only travel a few times a year. I don’t want to buy an expensive bag that wasn’t intended to gather dust over the years and loose its fortitude regardless the level of use over time.
If you have a manufacturing issue with your purchase expect to be using a lot of forms. They fired all their data entry staff and its on you to get all the product information together This shouldn’t be too bad, but I like talking to humans, so I’m biased on the matter. I found Samsonite’s customer support email email@example.com. There is a 24 hour chat system you can use as well. I recommend using the chat support. The customer email support has a disclaimer of a 24 hour response time.
Samsonite Warranty Information
It looks like there are three types of warranties Samsonite will extend to their products. Two of them are good warranties. One of them is a participation trophy in their sales process.
- Lifetime Warranty
- 10 Year Warranty
- 3 Year Warramty
You’ll notice that the 10 year and lifetime warranties are extended to their most expensive offerings. Their cheaper products get stuck in the cold with a 3 year policy. It looks like Samsonite doesn’t think the cheaper bags they offer can handle a four year degree sprint in a commoner’s hand. Jokes aside I think its best to understand that the cheaper products should be expected not to last as long as the premium offerings. It is sneaky how Samsonite names this laptop case the Samsonite Premium Laptop Case and slaps a 3 year warranty on it. That’s not a sign of premium to me. There is an awesome laptop backpack I reviewed called the Timbuk2 Armory Pack. The Timbuk2 Armory Pack has a lifetime warranty and it’s not much more than this laptop case. . Check ou Finally, we will take a look at the laptop case itself.
The Samsonite Premium Laptop Product Break-Down
First, lets example the main materials used in making this laptop case. There aren’t many materials in use for this simple laptop case. We would see more from a laptop backpack or
Laptop Case Materials
- Nylon Stitching
First, notice that this bag’s main material is Neoprene from the product picture. There’s only a splash of leather. Neoprene is a synthetic rubber that can withstand a wide variation of intense temperatures. It is typically a synthetic compound for use in producing latex products or things like mechanical belts. The nylon stitching and synthetic rubber are common compaounds used in cheaper products like this.
Laptop Case Features
This laptop case features an impressive amount of organizational storage. There are enough pockets to satisfy a gadget head like myself for a small day trip to library.
- Fits 15.6 Laptops
- 24 oz weight (light as a 24oz feather)
- Adjustable Shoulder Strap
- 2 side zipper compartments
- Useful ORganized Storage Pockets
I think listing the missing features is the best way to describe the issues I have with this laptop case.
Missing Laptop Case Features
- Water Resistant
- Impact Resistant
- Dust Resistant
- Fits 17 inch Laptops
- Water Bottle Holder
These missing features is a sad thing to see for a modern laptop case. I think this is a “no thank you” product for me and for you unless you have a gift card you need to use up. The lack of a 17-inch compartment hurts my soul. No 17-inch laptop support is a main reason I write for this website. I may be suffering along the minority of America on this issue though. I think a water bottle holder isn’t crucial as well, but I like promoting hydration. The lack of water resistance is an actual problem to most people I think.
If I want to travel anywhere with my laptop, I want peace of mind. I don’t want a lightweight plastic bag holding my baby. Finding yourself in the rain is inevitable here in North Carolina. I won’t risk carrying my gaming laptop in a leather studded walmart bag.
